We were awakened at 4:30 AM by a call from my Mom letting us know that Daddy had a rough night with stomach upset and pressure in the middle of his chest. Daddy wanted to go to the ER and we were in the middle of an ice storm. I advised her to call an ambulance.....this is becoming a common occurrence and once there he seems better. He once again had an elevated white blood cell count and was released about 9 AM with a prescription for....Mom isn't sure what!
Mom called about 6 AM wanting us to pick her up and take her home.....DH tried but in the process slid in the ice skating rink that our driveway had become and we were imprisoned in our own home! Thank God that my brother could get to them.
I am now in a quandary as to how to advise them....do I suggest waiting until morning and calling their DR? or do I risk something serious or life threatening happening in those wee morning hours?
This elevated white blood count has been the culprit of at least the last 2 ER trips.......what the heck is causing this?
My conclusion....it is not easy to be old!
