Make this day a great one!

“It’s in Christ that we find out who we are and what we are living for. Long before we first heard of Christ and got our hopes up, he had his eye on us, had designs on us for glorious living, part of the overall purpose he is working out in everything and everyone.  Ephesians 1:11-12”

Old friends....one of the treasures in life!

Today I had lunch with 5 girlfriends from high school....one of them I have been friends with for 50 years!! We have gotten together since graduation and we call our group the  "Breakfast Club". Although it varies as to who is there from year to year ....we pick up right where we left off sharing the good, the bad and the downright ugly of our lives with each other.  All of us have had our share of love, success, failures and tragedy.....love is knowing the whole of a person and loving them anyway....kind of how God loves us :) I am blessed!

Thank you Linda for a very special gift, love you!

Those who know your name trust in you; for you, LORD, have never forsaken those who seek you. Psalm 9:10

Sam's Club and BW3

Ashley, Kris and I made another trip to Chillicothe to have dinner at BW3 and then SAM"S CLUB yesterday after church!! Tim does not share my fondness for Sam's.....he likes to make daily trips to the grocery store! He loves cooking and he loves the grocery store. So the girls and I are making it a monthly get together to go out to dinner and leisurely shop. It is fun!

We really enjoyed our trip to the Amish Country on Saturday and Tim gave to the economy in the quilt stores. He was overwhelmed with the plethora of books, material and tools! He was the proverbial kid in a candy store! We only stopped to eat at our regular bakery shop for dinner....summer sausage, swiss cheese and a loaf of homemade bread...this time we added hot cinnamon buns!!!! It is a good thing that this is not a weekly routine.

We bowl this afternoon and then Mom is coming over to redo her tax papers...she received a paper from the IRS after we did them last week.  Oh how thankful I am for my trusty computer...with just a little paper and ink we can fix and print in a jiffy :)

Have a blessed day :-)

Life is a precious eternal gift

I am thankful, plain old thankful, that I have family that loves me and serve a God who is willing to be my friend...so very thankful!

Answered prayer....will be needed again next year :)

Thanks for the prayers yesterday taxes went well.....it is still very hard for me to see the frailty of life in my parents.

My Mom is still smarter than I will ever be but we have found a place where we can laugh at the memory losses and still retain her dignity in letting me help fill in the blanks.  It is a milestone for us both!

God sends help at the hour we need it—daily and miraculously!

Trust Him.  Make it a day changer! Max Lucado

Prayers please!

Today I am doing my parents taxes...and my daughter's taxes...and our taxes!

Prayer is needed to just understand the tax codes.  There has got to be an easier way. We should be able to do our own taxes without going to an accountant.....what the heck. We need to do away with loopholes it would definitely shrink the tax laws!

Oh well, in the long haul I am sooooo thankful that we make enough to have to pay taxes and that we are some of the privileged few in this country who have the problem!

If only the 1% who control the 99% of America's wealth would pay their fair share and feel the same we would all be better off :) we need to listen to Warren Buffett....

My sheep listen to my voice; I know them, and they follow me. John 10:27

Wise are the ones who nod and swim in the direction He points!

Timmy is finally feeling well enough to go to his quilting class...woo hoo! It has been a long haul this past month and a little R & R is right up my alley :)

As for me I have been attending an online poster design class. I love typography!!!!

I am sick of sickness!

Today Kollier is spending a few hours with me while Mommy gets her nails done and I am determined to keep her from catching whatever Pooh has that no one seems to be able to diagnose. His chest X-ray, blood test and culture came back OK just a little low on potassium....we are baffled and he is still SICK.

Poor little bit has been sick for the last week with tonsillitis and she needs nothing added to it. I have been scrubbing and disinfecting everything in the house and praying that everyone gets BETTER!

Tomorrow, just in time for Kami's Birthday Party.......snow. Pray that I can get out of my driveway to be there!

cannot come soon enough

We learn from our mistakes....if we use God's wisdom!

In a Newsmax interview two years ago, Foxman gave Obama an F grade for his dealing with the Israeli-Arab conflict and Iran. Asked if he still gives Obama a failing grade, Fox says: “No, I think he has improved. He has learned from some of the mistakes.
“I think the speech he gave at the United Nations puts him back in my mind to a B. He still hasn’t achieved [an A]. But he has a better understanding of what is possible and what is not possible.”
In that speech in September, Obama urged a resumption of negotiations between Israel and the Palestinians, stressed support for an independent Palestinian state, and spoke against any United Nations bid to declare Palestine a state on its own.
Foxman says that after the address, “I called one of the White House officials and I said this is a wonderful speech. Had the president given that speech in Cairo three years ago we may have had a two-state solution.
“But there is an understanding. I think the fact that the United States is now supplying Israel with bunker-busters, that aid is being given in terms of defense missiles, I think shows an understanding that they were wrong."

He has such a way with words!!

Gratitude!  It’s the firstborn child of grace, the appropriate response of the blessed. Immerse yourself in the curriculum of grace!  It’s so easy to be distracted.  So easy to be ungrateful!

Oh boy!  My favorite!  It’s a day changer!

Choose to make every day—a great day.

Papertrey Ink's Anniversary Challenge's

Wow today I was in a groove for cards this one uses the favorite colors of Papertrey designer Ashley Cannon Newell.....and this is my interpretation using Mo Manning's sweet little stamp "Bunches.

These colors are always in my paper stash. The weight of Papertrey's paper is to die for and it provides the perfect base for cards and hybrid projects!

The coloring is done with Copic Makers, a new medium for me, it was this year's Christmas present......I ordered them for me from my DH and dear Parents!!

Loved spending a wintry snow day in my little studio coloring away....awwww.

A blog from a fellow card maker prompted me to post on her blog of the memories it stirred

what wonderful memories of my dear Grandmother Huber this brought to my mind.....I  spent a few weeks each summer with her at the farm and I can still vividly recall the little beds she made for my doll out of an oatmeal box and the soft cats that she made for me out of her scraps. They raised all their own food and her cellar was filled with can after can of her produce. The chicken on Sunday was as fresh as the homemade butter and noodles....a quarter of her pies was a normal serving size. And yes she cooked with lard!! I can still smell the smoke house filled with hams and such! She lived to be almost 100 and her legacy of nightly prayer on her knees remains an inspiration to me. Aww I hope that I can measure up to her standards in the eyes of my 6 (soon to be 7) grand babies!

Timmy needs prayers

Tim has been fighting a sinus infection for a month...2 rounds of antibiotics and still sick. Yesterday we once again visited his DR's office and he received a breathing treatment. With the last meds he was hallucinating so they took all antibiotics away and ordered a chest X-ray and blood work to find out what the heck is happening with his body! They have him on an inhaler until they find the cause.....

He is miserable and once again missed his quilt class (it makes me want to cry he was so looking forward to it) and he had his little studio all set up for it. I am thankful that I can call Marla and get some comfort and direction!

This has not been a good winter for us....egads...Me thinks we are falling apart :(

On a better note Mom and I managed to win 3 games in the bowling league yesterday....we did it for Timmy! Mom is one heck of a bowler....she wings that ball!!! Don't tell her though....she prefers to think she isn't....

What should be the traits of a leader of a nation that calls itself Christian?

The shepherd represents one who loves and cares for his flock just as a leader or ruler cares for those under his charge.
A good leader is concerned that the people’s physical needs are being met and that care is provided for the sick and injured. A true leader looks for those who have fallen away. He leads like a shepherd by providing direction and correction, not with a fist but with a loving hand. A good leader protects those under his care and does not leave them to the wolves—to those who lead them astray. And finally, a good leader gives of himself to those under his charge. He cares about them and their well-being.
Jesus’ self-sacrificing life provides the perfect blueprint for making a good shepherd and leader.
